Graduated Articulates: Seriously Though, What is Wrong With Female Characters?

I bet no one remembers that this happened. But they shouldn’t be surprised.

Graduated Articulates: He’s Only Guilty of Being a Dwarf

Tyrion Lannister, in the Privy, with a Crossbow.

Oh, hey. Spoilers, yo.

So. It’s been a bit, but I’m packing a new Game of Thrones post. I had wanted to write another sooner, but I figured it would be easier and fairer to wait until the Season Finale. It’s not fair to declare a TV series racist, sexist, or homophobic until it’s given you all it can. And, well, Game of Thrones Season 4 has given us all it can.

24: Silence and Solemnity

After my post yesterday, I’ve been thinking a lot about 24 and some of the best moments of the show. Sadly, many of these are horrible, horrible moment when beloved characters are killed off.

Now, one of the signature devices of 24 is the iconic clock that displays the time and ominously ticks leading in and out of commercial breaks and ending each episode. I’m sure you’ve seen it, or at the very least, i’m sure you’ve seen a parody of it.

Sugar and Spice and… ANOTHER REBOOT!

I was never actually a fan of PowerPuff Girls – sorry folks.  I was a 17-year-old dude when the show premiered.  It just wasn’t quite on my radar.  However, I am culturally aware enough to know that it’s a really highly regarded cartoon.  I recently gone back and looked at some of it.  It was clearly very well-written, and beautifully designed.  It’s also a rare sort of program that provides a very strong set of role models for girls.  So, let’s make it again! Game of Thrones: Wait, What? A Review from Someone Who Hasn’t Read the Books…

Alright so I am probably the only person on the planet who is really, seriously confused about what’s going on with Game of Thrones. With the end of season four and my finally watching it last night…. uh…. what?

Many of us were disheartened a few weeks ago when it was announced that NBC had decided not to renew Community for an additional season.

However, some rumors have come to light today that are pretty exciting!  It seems that Sony may be in talks to bring another 13-episode season of Community to Hulu.

This is really exciting!  Community was consistently a very impressively written and clever show.  Maybe too clever, since it didn’t get very high ratings, though the show’s following is very enthusiastic.  I’m going to keep this rather vague, to stay spoiler-free, but its history has been troubled, losing showrunner Dan Harmon for a season, which went rather poorly.  Then they brought him back the last season, which was clearly much stronger, but also struggled to rectify the mistakes of the previous one!

Hopefully, we’ll see the entire cast come back and we can have this series wrapped up in a much more satisfying manner.  Maybe, we’ll even get our movie…

Cool.  Cool, cool, cool.

Take a Look! It’s in a book!

ICYMI, there was some very cool news today!  Remember Reading Rainbow?  It ran from 1983 until 2006!  Through it, Levar Burton, who we all know was Geordi on Star Trek: The Next Generation, encouraged several generations of kids to read!  It worked great, because it met kids where they probably already were, the television screen, and encouraged them to seek out books.  Today’s kids might not be watching TV the same way.  We are now raising a generation of ‘digital natives’ that are perfectly comfortable on a tablet or a smartphone.  Well, Levar Burton and his team have a solution for that, find out what it is after the jump!
